Authentic Ayurveda and yoga therapies direct from Kerala in India...
The Spirit of India was a weekend event celebrating the start of Summer, all things Indian and our 5th Anniversary.
We had no idea when planning this event that it would turn out to be so well received by those who attended. It's one of the those times when you can't quite put the atmosphere into words - you needed to be there at the Carnbo Hall and grounds to experience it.
The visiting Dragonfly Yurt created a lot of interest, and it was great to see people giving mediation and chanting a go for the first time in this magical space. We are very grateful to Dave and Jennie for their contribution to the event.
The Soul Pod was a big hit with the kids and toddlers - they enjoyed stories and yoga there - intimate, friendly, new, chilled and warm. Thank you to Adam and Fiona. And we loved seeing all ages getting creative and messy painting in the marquee, gently supervised by Gloria. ( Thanks Mum :) )
Charan Pradhan led an informative workshop on his form of Napalese-inspired dance and its use as a therapy. This was a highlight for weekend attendees interested in the origins and practice of this powerful method of stress relief.
The closing presentation from the Kirkcaldy Fife Malayalam Association was colourful, entertaining and informative. The chidlren who gave their own time to come and perform were dazzling in their traditional dress. They encouraged the audeince to get up to dance at the end of their presentation and the circle of dancers in the hall was full of smiles and laughter.
And we enjoyed an unexpected final treat- everyone was overwhelmed by the wonderful voice of opera singer Charlotte Whitttle, who had come along to the weekend. Choosing her own songs to share with us, the meaning and sentiment behind 'You'll never walk alone' created a perfect ending to what turned out to be a weekend of treasured memories and friendships made, or strengthened.
Making money wasn't the goal of this weekend but we did end up raising £275 for the charity called Yoga Gives Back. It's great to know hta this will be making a difference to people in India.
Our gratitude goes out to those who made Spirit of India such a success: family and friends who helped prepare for and deliver the event, and of course all who came along to enjoy the weekend. We have been asked if there will be another one....watch this space!
A huge thanks to the following for coming along and making the weekend extra special!
Ali for her Indian Head massage treatments.
Hope to see you there at the next one :)
